If you've ever felt like nothing goes deep enough — this is it.
Ashiatsu Deep Therapy is one of the most effective therapeutic tools we offer at Heeling Hands — and one of the most misunderstood. The name sounds unusual. The technique looks unconventional. But for clients dealing with chronic tension, dense muscle tissue, and restrictions that never seem to fully release, it delivers a level of relief that traditional deep tissue massage simply can't replicate.
Instead of hands and elbows, Ashiatsu uses smooth, controlled foot pressure to deliver broad, deep compression that works with the body rather than against it. The result is deeply effective therapeutic work that feels fluid, consistent, and — for most clients — surprisingly comfortable.
Less sharp than elbow pressure. More consistent than hands. Deeper than anything most clients have experienced before.

How Ashiatsu Deep Therapy works.
"Ashi" means foot. "Atsu" means pressure. During an Ashiatsu session, your therapist uses overhead bars above the table for balance and support, applying careful, precise foot pressure along the back, hips, and major muscle groups.
The broad surface of the foot creates compression that covers more area than an elbow or thumb — allowing for deeper, more consistent contact without the sharpness or discomfort that can accompany traditional deep tissue work. The pressure is controlled, intentional, and adapted to your body throughout the session.
For clients who carry deep, chronic tension — particularly in the back, hips, and shoulders — this technique reaches layers of tissue that other approaches often miss entirely.

What to expect in your session.
Every Ashiatsu session at Heeling Hands begins with the same thorough intake process as all of our services — understanding your goals, your history, and what your body needs that day. Ashiatsu can be incorporated as the primary technique or combined with other modalities depending on what will serve you best.
Most clients describe the experience as deeply relaxing despite the depth of pressure — the broad foot contact has a grounding quality that feels very different from sharp elbow or thumb work. Many clients who were hesitant beforehand become regular Ashiatsu clients after their first session.
Communication during the session is always welcomed. We adapt the pressure and approach in real time based on your feedback and what we're feeling in your tissue.
